Do not place a bed under a window, if the window will frequently be open. Open windows can create uncomfortable drafts. Positioning a bed between two windows, however, works well. If your home is air-conditioned or heated year-round and the windows are seldom open, you may be able to ignore this rule. Do not place the bed where it obstructs a door into the room or a walkway through the room. Consider nontraditional furniture arrangements if doing so will free up space or use space in a more interesting way. For example, a bed may look dramatic placed in front of a secure window; on a diagonal, which takes up extra space; sideways along a wall, to maximize floor space; or in an alcove (a technique called lit clos).
When choosing bedside tables for your bedroom there a few important things to keep in mind to ensure you get the look you want and something that will suit your needs. I like to think of bedsides much like ‘earrings' for your bed, adding a complementary embellishment that sets your interior style and look for the bedroom. Whether you choose a matching pair or two completely different pieces, is up to you. But no matter what you choose, your bedside tables need to be functional, providing extra storage or the perfect place to set down your book or arrange a vase of fresh flowers. If you're looking to update the style of your bedroom or just going for a refresh, here are my top tips when choosing a bedside table.
Consider mirrored doors for your wardrobe if you want the room to look a little more spacious and open or if you simply want the surface to reflect the beautiful views outside. Here's a design with a symmetrical structure and a mirrored door at the center. All of the variations presented above are nice options for those of you who prefer the usual closet space in the bedroom. But there's also another possibility. Instead of hiding everything behind closed doors, you can opt for open storage. In this case, you'd be displaying all your clothes and accessories on hanging rods and shelves. You can, of course, mix and match designs and styles and also include a few drawers. This type of storage can be an interesting option for a casual bedroom or for a small room where a regular closet would occupy too much space.
